FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS ROLLER SKATING DANGEROUS?

Roller Skating can be dangerous if the right safety precautions are not taken and the correct safety equipment is not worn.

Most roller skating injuries happen when a skater loses balance and falls on a hard surface such as the pavement. Skaters who wear protective equipment greatly decrease their chance of being injured in the event of a fall or collision.

The most commonly injured body parts include the hands, wrists and elbows as well as abrasions to the knees.

Most importantly, skaters who do not wear a helmet are at the greatest risk of even more serious injuries. Always wear a helmet!

DO KANDY SKATES REQUIRE MAINTENANCE?

Yes, all Roller Skates require some basic maintenance to keep them running at their optimum and to ensure they last for years to come.

The key areas that you should routinely maintain include:

Toe Stoppers:

On a weekly basis it is very important to verify that the toe stoppers are tightly fastened as vibration from stopping frequently can loosen the toe stoppers). To tighten the toe stoppers simply use the appropriate screwdriver and tighten the toe stopper bolt as tight as it will go manually.

Wheel Nuts:

Every several months it is recommended to test the tightness of the wheel nuts using a 1/2″ socket or wrench. These should be tightened until there is very little play in the wheel but does not hinder the wheel from spinning freely.

Trucks:

Deciding how tight to tighten the trucks is personal preference. Make sure they are tight enough so that they don’t slip. The looser the trucks the more flexible they will be but are harder to control at speed. All Kandy Skates come set at a medium tension suitable for beginner skaters.

To adjust the Inverted Kingpin on the Kandy Skates Trucks – Simply use a 1/2″ socket or wrench to tighten or loosen the tension. Anti-Clockwise to loosen and Clockwise to tighten.

HOW LONG IS THE WARRANTY ON KANY SKATES?

Kandy Skates are covered by a 12 Month Warranty from the date of purchase and it covers all non- wear & tear components of the product including any manufacturing defects.

Some components of the product will wear over time including the PU Wheels and Toe Stoppers. These will have to be replaced over time and are not deemed a warranty item unless there is found to be a manufacturing defect.

WHAT SIZE SKATES SHOULD I PURCHASE?

Selecting the correct size roller skates is a very important part to the buying process as a correctly fitted skate is going to be more comfortable and supportive. Incorrectly sized roller skate can lead to sore feet and ultimately no use out of the product. View Sizing Chart

As a general guide – adults should stick with their current shoe size whereas Children should select one size larger due to their growth rate. This will allow a longer use out of the skates before needing to go up in size.

New roller skates will take some time to break in. In this time the skates will be molding around your specific foot shape. Once worn in, you will find the skates to be much more comfortable and supportive.

Available in sizes: 12 Junior (USA 13 JR) – 7 Adults (USA 8) USA Sizing is based on women’s shoe size
